We keep hearing from various sources that the art of Seo is dying, no longer relevant or even stone dead! The causes for this are several and varied. There have been many articles written about this and there are arguments from both sides of the seo fence. So what makes people think that seo is dying?
Well firstly, some people just dont fully grasp what SEO is all about. This is true even among prominent marketers. A common belief among this segment is that SEO is the process of tricking search engines to rank a site for search queries for which it isn’t one of the better matches. With this viewpoint, it’s easy to see why people would want to conclude that SEO is a dying medium. Google and Microsoft make billions of dollars in revenue from their search engines, and protecting that revenue stream is a critical activity for them.
Poor quality search results lower customer satisfaction, and become an enticement for the user to try a different search engine that gives them better results. Definitely not desirable. That’s why Google has

The Social Media Effect
Some doubters point to the enormous impact of social networking websites, believing that social media will replace SEO. These people argue that inbound links are an outdated system of voting for Web sites, and that social media sites give a much broader array of signals, because anyone with an Internet connection can sign up for a social media service and start making opinions but you need a website to link to others.
The point made is fair enough, but there are some problems with it. For a start social media sites are not adopted across the entire population, thereby making these signals inconsistent and unreliable. Also social media sites are eay to spam. It costs nothing to create social media accounts and start posting lots of links to your favuorite site.
Then we come to the authority of a website. A twitterer of Facebook user may have many friends or followers, however all they can offer really, is their own opinion. Someone with a Web site has made a significant investment in building that site, and here the stamp of authority is likewise relatively easy to measure. But a link from an authorative website will be worth much more than a tweet.
So is SEO Dying?
No way, and it never will. Search engines will always want top quality and relevant results in their rankings and will always measure the top sites by a variety of factors. If search engines were losing their power then you can bet that Microsoft would not have poured so much money into Bing. However, SEO will evolve as the searcher evolves. The introduction of universal search resulted in some changes, and created new opportunities for SEO companies.
What we have to do is adapt to the changes that are happening, and use the latest techniques to keep abreast of the changing seo environment. For instance video seo has just emerged in the last few months. This is why a lot of seo companies are ineffective, because they still use techniques that worked five years ago. And this is why SKS Services will always give the best seo bang for your buck.
